Pros

Main perk was working with the glass art and watching folks work in the hot shop! The glassblowers were all very cool. Glass art is hit or miss for me personally, but to their credit SGS gets high quality work and has a broad catalogue of artists. S.T. was a great supervisor and I really enjoyed working with her.

Cons

When I was there, they had about 5-6 managers/owners, some of whom could be pretty passive-aggressive. Not a lot of room for growth in the sales floor position, though in total fairness I’m not a great salesperson anyway. You’ll rarely see the owners, but they’re often watching from the security cameras, which can be a bit creepy.

Pros

The glassblowers love what they do and are really passionate. They love talking to people who come in about the glass and creating something quick for them. Very laid back environment.

Cons

The gallery portion of the studio is very uptight and tends to treat the glassblowers like crap. Not much consideration for customers. Training is awful. No one is initially prepared for the tasks they are asked to do, they have to learn the hard way.
