Pros

There’s some really wonderful people who work at Seasalt head office. The teams are generally very supportive of each other and want to collaborate and work towards growing the business. There is huge potential for growth and it’s nice to work for a company that seems to be weathering the current trading climate well. Hybrid working and flexible hours

Cons

Leadership are often not aligned and a few select directors seem to wield all of the power which means there’s often an imbalance with team resources. Some teams are starved of resource but the teams of those few powerful directors seem to be the ones that are ok (able to work their 37.5 hours a week comfortable vs the under resourced teams who are hugely overworked). The business is very top heavy - far too many heads of, directors, managers and no where near enough admin staff. These senior managers are often bought in to dream up these big ideas for growth but the company then fails to bring in the lower level staff who are actually needed to execute these grand plans. Could be a great company but in the rush to grow quickly, they have ended up with a lot of dead weight within the senior management level and a lot of very over worked and very very under paid entry to mid level employees. Other gripes - shockingly bad systems, terrible IT support, lots of red tape to get anything signed off. The company is currently going through a very painful phase where they are trying to grow from a mid size, family run business to a larger corporate business and the staff are most certainly feeling it.

Thank you for taking the time to leave your feedback. We are so pleased you have a great rapport with the people you work with. We recognise, and are incredibly grateful for, how hard working our people are. Supporting them is really important to us and having hybrid ways of working and flexible hours are just some of the measures we have in place, on top of the benefits we offer. We really value how talented our people are, as they are the ones who drive our business forward, making Seasalt what it is. As a growing business, we are continually assessing that we have the right teams and processes in place to support our plans. We have been continually investing in our technology over the past five years, to ensure our platforms and ways of working meet our growth and support our teams. In our industry we often need to adapt quickly to unexpected changes in the market, so we are not able plan for every eventuality but are working hard to focus on contingency plan and agility to limit the impact. We welcome receiving open and honest feedback, our people’s opinions help us to improve as a business and employer.

Pros

There are a handful of good people left that care deeply about the organisation.

Cons

Here is a poem that gives a summary of my whole experience: The House of Hollow Leaders They smiled with polished, practiced grace, But venom flickered beneath a face. The handshake warm, the voices sweet, Yet daggers waited at my feet. I gave my labour, heart and fire, Believed their words, their promised choir. But truth revealed a darker scheme A place where trust is just a dream. Behind their smiles are sharpened knives. The 'people' people don't value lives. They trade in blame, in fear, in spin Integrity won't last within They boast of trophies, shiny, grand, Yet none are earned by heart or hand. A gilded front, a hollow show, Inside, the rot is all they know. At the summit, fear holds reign, Leaders steeped in cold disdain. Voices silenced, truth erased, Dissenting souls are soon displaced. So hear me now, if you should dare To walk into a lion's lair: It feeds on hope, it drains the kind, It breaks the brave, enslaves the mind. Leaders crush the ones who speak, The strong, the honest and the meek. A culture poisoned, cold, untrue If you have choices, don't choose this one too.

Pros

Lovely, friendly team - purely the reason for the two stars Good staff discount if you like Seasalt’s styles

Cons

Complete lack of guidance from day one. Got lumped with a major piece of work on day three then got repeatedly admonished for not being able to complete it when the systems just weren’t up to providing the required information, and no one was helping. Incredibly unprofessional behaviour from a director alongside a complete lack of care about mental well-being made for a miserable time in Seasalt’s employment. Sadly I left them with my mental health in such a state I couldn’t face any sort of appeal, so they got away with it completely. Systems were completely unfit for purpose - I’ve worked for tiny companies with better IT and software than Seasalt.

Thank you for taking the time to leave your comments. It’s great to hear that you enjoyed working with your team and recognised our generous staff discount. The Wellbeing of our people is extremely important to us which is why we have a dedicated online Wellbeing Hub where we provide several resources, such as partnering with the Retail Trust, to support our employees. At Seasalt we encourage openness where people can speak freely with their managers and HR Business Partner. Each person has a regular dedicated meeting with their manager, as well as team meetings, to support them in their role. We regularly seek our people’s views, whether that’s when they join us, in our annual engagement survey or if they’re moving on. In our engagement survey this year, we were delighted that, of the 92% who took part, 92% said their manager is a great model for living Seasalt values, and 88% were proud to work for us. We are continuing to invest in our technology platforms and ways of working to meet our growth and support to our teams, although we appreciate this takes time. Please feel free to email the employee experience team in confidence with any further feedback you would like to share EX@seasaltcornwall.co.uk
