Pros
The job provides some pretty great insight into the workings of medicine. I've worked in various emergency departments and urgent cares in my 2 yrs so I've had a nice view of what's involved with those two different environments. I've made great connections with various physicians who have been very supportive of my plans to pursue medicine. Scheduling is pretty great because most of the employees are students and they work great with your schedule, whatever it may be.
Cons
The money was great while I was in college, but as a recent graduate, I soon realized it couldn't be my only source of income. Occasionally what was being asked of the scribes is a bit much, especially for what we're paid for. You'll sometimes become the errand boy of the ED. Management can be a bit disorganized, but it has never been terrible. Working with the different providers who each have their own specific preferences can quickly become annoying and tedious.
