Good for getting some experience - Medical Scribe Scribe Innovations Employee Review

Pros

I worked for Scribe Innovations for an ER in NOLA. After initial tests, the company was pretty hands off and your job is dependent on the physicians/location you are in.

Cons

Pay was low. No differential for scribes.

Pros

Exposure to medical field, stand out amongst other school applicants, get to see firsthand the good and bad of healthcare, expand your fund of knowledge

Cons

To all aspiring medical professionals looking to become a scribe: Do NOT work for a contracting company. Know your worth and work with a healthcare business directly. You will be underpaid. They skim anywhere from $5-7/hour off the top of your work and all they did was get you the job and "train" you. Training is very hit or miss. Physicians will either get a rockstar or someone that can get you in a LOT of trouble. Since you're so underpaid there is little incentive to put in effort and do a decent job. No benefits. Don't do this job unless you're in school and are fine with a part-time gig because you won't survive if you do this full-time. Don't even think about better opportunities because you're treated as expendable and will be moving on to bigger and better things. You are at the beck and call of the provider you work for. If they take time off you are SOL if you want to pick up hours. Poor upper management. Rather lacking in the communication/responsiveness department. Their attitude was rather rude. They made it a point to "crack the whip" on doctors and keep them moving to boost their numbers. It is not our place to chastise a physician for working too slowly.
