BEWARE - Creative Reuse Specialist Scrap Creative Reuse Employee Review

This is the most abusive and toxic workplace I’ve been a part of in my 15 years of working experience. When I started working here, day ONE the staff were all in an alarming amount of distress and fear about the poor management and treatment. A couple of months in I raised a concern I had about ongoing mismanagement and communication with the then director who’s initials are AB. SCRAP management gaslit me and disciplined me for advocating for myself and my peers. I felt like their actions were ableist and based in retaliation that lasted A YEAR and was extremely dehumanizing. During this time I learned about (and READ) multiple documents from *multiple* past employees had sent to SCRAP leadership with the same exact complaints I had made about the abusive director as well as claims of discrimination. All of us, as a collective staff unionized during the year I worked here and I felt like management was putting the blame of our organizing on me and trying to push me out any chance they got. SCRAP is an incredibly insidious “non profit” that exploits their workers, the communities that donate to them and the poor people who shop from them. They hire young and disabled queer people who are easy to take advantage of and bullies anyone else out. Awful pay, no benefits, zero accountability and truly abusive communication practices. Don’t work here unless you want PTSD.
