Pros
Compensation is aligned with other management consulting firms, culture is not overly-competitive, hours and work-life balance are decent for management consulting.
Cons
Projects are undersold (meaning hours are capped low and hours long). ScottMadden is primarily an implementation firm as opposed to a high-level strategy consulting firm. Projects are typically tedious and can be dominated by process engineering/documentation. Clients are long-term "cash cows" - tend to be Southern based (typical clients are defense contractors and utilities). Review process is subpar compared to other consulting firms, training for skills advancement is almost non-existant, opportunity for growth is very limited and the firm's culture is very homogeneous.
