Pros
Great opportunity to get exposed to a standardized engineering process in the real world dealing with codes, system projects, and project management to an extent as an engineer. Competitive salary. Good benefits. The CEO is the only stand-up person within the management and truly cares about his people, their development, and their safety. Unfortunately, this attitude is not carried down the organizational structure and it shows.
Cons
Not the best management in engineering. They won't care about you as a person or your professional development. They will do their best to hire entry-level engineers and fire them around the 2-3 year mark so that you never get to a senior level and cost the company more money. It shows in the managements behavior through harping on your mistakes rather than embracing them as learning opportunities. If you show interest in moving departments or gaining more exposure, the engineering management will put you on the shortlist to be fired and work to come up with any excuse to achieve this. No repsect for work life balance. Their system does not recognize holidays so you will have items due on Christmas and Thanksgiving for example. Impossible to take time off as there are always items due, and management refuses to assign them to other people if you take off and thus placing the blame on you.
