The company is involved in a wide range of building related projects with varying degrees of complexity. The company works with you by assigning projects based on design material or framing preference. If you are the type that always wants a challenge, a challenge will be offered. Schaefer strives to provide opportunities and avenues for all its employees to grow not just in terms of technical expertise but also in professional prowess such as project management, client relationship management. Regarding technical development, Schaefer recognizes the importance of continuing education for its employees and keeps the staff up to date on upcoming courses, classes, and conferences, some of which the company is willing to financially cover. Schaefer also places great care on its employees by empowering each one of them to control their own schedules. They recognize that we all have personal lives outside of the office and encourage proper work-life balance. It is common for the company to also have team building events during office hours throughout the year, whether it be grill outs, Chili days, end of week Happy hour, etc. I have had a easy time getting assimilated to the Schaefer culture and its staff. Everyone is professional, kind, and eager to help one another.

Cons

My duration of employment has been relatively short with Schaefer thus far but I compare my experience thus far with my previous employer of 7 years and have not come across any negatives thus far - it has been an incredible and refreshing experiences.

Pros

They have extremely talented engineers, a great culture founded in a family, and you will work on a lot of projects.

Cons

Leadership was racist towards me by commenting microagressions. And I was dismissed by HR, and they did not listen to me. Lack of non white employees. They recruit from the same schools and do not seem to be interested in gaining employees from other networks. When employees leave, they do not return.
