Pros

The mission is great. Participating in the transplant process is extremely gratifying.

Cons

The company is very top-heavy with a huge gap between mid and upper management and workers. They have a very closed, non-transparent approach and disregard input from lower level employees. There has been a lot of financial mismanagement which has been dealt with by cutting lower level benefits and pay, while upper management (particularly the CEO and COO) pay has risen. This has resulted in demoralized lower level employees who feel insecure in their jobs. The turnover rate is high. In recent years they have chosen to prioritize a slick public presence over good stewardship of their resources. They have misled employees about the reasons for these cuts. The company did not used to be like this. It changed drastically when the new CEO took over and started to spend his way through the company resources. He has only had management experience at this company. No academic experience, no other management jobs, not even significant job experience at another facility and it shows. He was clearly unprepared to competently fill this role. The COO is the same, a very incompetent manager. Nearly all the managers under her quit in the 2 years after Tony Bavuso became the CEO. After this transition they got at least 2 citations (483's) from the FDA. The quality of their operations and services declined in proportion to their increased focus on their re-branding efforts.
