Pros
Savant is a young company which means lots of great things — there’s a small, enthused team; there’s a warm working atmosphere; there’s an openness to new ideas. Both of the bosses are very kind and approachable, which is helpful - since it’s a small company, you’ll be working in close proximity to senior management. There’s also tons of perks: the offices themselves are both well-located in central Berlin and London and provide the usual funky setting you’d expect from WeWork locations and the job itself also requires a fair bit of travelling, which meant I got to visit everywhere from Amsterdam to Stockholm and to get paid for the privilege. The people who attend the conferences themselves are also easy to spend time with - they were younger and more down to earth than I’d expected for business conferences - which made it easy to implement them into the marketing.
Cons
However, like all companies, there were a few minor downsides at play. Possibly because it is such a young company, it could occasionally be difficult to persuade management to stick to a long-term strategy when they didn’t see immediate dividends from doing so. This could be tricky in a marketing role where a lot of benefits surrounding brand-building are largely invisible in the short term. It also could feel difficult to deliver negative feedback about aspects of the events to management, who sometimes took constructive criticism personally. This occasionally made it challenging to improve on (the already high quality) events. However, these were just small things that I think the company could improve upon — overall, my experience at Savant was a great one.
