Pros
Your experience at SAVA will depend highly on the team that you join. My team was pretty good - the people were friendly, there was a lot of teamwork, folks would work with you. It was one of my favorite working environments as far as the day-to-day goes, partially because of SAVA and partially because of the customer we were working with. Typically they would try to promote from within, if spots were available and qualified candidates were in-house.
Cons
HR/Accounting and the management side of SAVA is near worthless. Everything gets caught up in red tape. Don't expect a raise each year - due to it's affiliation with Alaskan natives, most of the time raises are either tiny or non-existent. Every year they'll give you a tale about how the work you do supports the natives, which is fine, but overall it's not a competitive salary environment. There is a good ol' boys network here, so if you want to move up, you have to "play the game" politically.
