Pros

The projects are interesting, some of the people are nice (on the surface at least)

Cons

It's just too much pressure. I never even really feel like i can sink my teeth into any project because the deadlines are so short, i just have to do the work the best i can (which is poorly, theres not enough time). I'm counting down the days to the end of my contract, even though it would be better for my career to extend it. I've had enough breakdowns in the Nairobi office bathrooms for a lifetime. On top of that, there are social cliques, and this bleeds into the efficiency of the work. The warm welcome you feel during onboarding and your first few days is a facade. People really are just nice on the surface and in reality it's every man for himself!

Pros

- Short contracts (3) on energy and climate-induced displacement in East Africa - Great remote support from SH management and admin staff - Real impact on programs and projects (NGOs and 2 UN agencies) - Salary and symbolic reward were very good

Cons

None, just great memories and I miss everyone at SH!

Pros

Samuel Hall is a firm that I have been involved with since its inception, and being part of their growth has been exhilarating. It is a team of young, driven, smart people who care about helping others and each other. They are bold and creative, data driven, hard working. The directors of the firm are visionaries who put their staff first and care about their employees; they know their biggest asset is their team. They have done a great job elevating the next generation of leaders in order to focus on growing the platform. They have made it a point to always stay loyal to the firm’s values. They are very dedicated to Samuel Hall and truly passionate about their mission. They have surrounded themselves with a diverse team, with each employee bringing a different expertise to the table. They are all inspiring and it’s been an honor to be part of their journey.

Cons

As any firm that started small and breaking to the next level, there are some growing pains that the directors have been working on. They keep surrounding themselves with advisors and consultants to improve the way the company is run, make things more efficient, and make it a great place to work.
