Pros

Co-worker are very generous with knowledge, Italians are a warm and friendly bunch.

Cons

-Poor Management and delegation of tasks. - Job satisfaction is very low as work is generally not interesting, and no real mid level management making sure that work gets done day to day. -Not very generous with benefits or amenities. Salaries seem low compared to many construction companies in Oil & Gas. -Basic tools such as vehicles, cell phones, laptops are in short supply -Dreadfully managed HR department. Forget getting paid for your overtime in full. -Training and continuing education is not encouraged, or welcome unless you want to pay for it yourself (with unpaid leave). -Mismanagement of Human resources. There are staff doing too much work while other sit around waiting for work to come their way. I spent one year doing work in a department not related to my degree in any way while assistance was sorely needed in my area of expertise. -There is an opaque ceiling for non western Europeans.

Pros

Great responsibility for offshore operations and quay-side mobilizations. Less technical role (no direct engineering performed), but more so, practical experience-driven when executing onsite.

Cons

Lots of reading and writing (Purchase Requests>Purchase Orders>Final contracts). Bureaucratic procurement (SAP and Word/Excel heavy) and poor interdepartmental follow-up: you have to do the follow-up when the assigned project inspector and expeditor (POSE) don't follow up on your PO. High workload.
