Pros

If you like to work in an environment where technology is the main driver this is a good place. If you like to work in a multicultural place where caring international attitude is a value Saipem is a good choice. In some work groups there's a familiar attitude and knowledge sharing is a daily practice. Good salary and welfare policy. The company has a strong asset in term of people and tools.

Cons

Corporate staff in some key position tend to burden your work since suffer from a cultural heritage made of "we've always did in this way" and is very reluctant to change attitude simply because not much effort has been done to improve their work quality (i.e. lack of a clear and visible business process map). Some managers are not willing to drive the works rather than just do compliance checks, this sometimes causes delay and late reworks. The company spend a hell amount of money in software licenses but do not exploit their use trough integration in the work processes.

Pros

Great responsibility for offshore operations and quay-side mobilizations. Less technical role (no direct engineering performed), but more so, practical experience-driven when executing onsite.

Cons

Lots of reading and writing (Purchase Requests>Purchase Orders>Final contracts). Bureaucratic procurement (SAP and Word/Excel heavy) and poor interdepartmental follow-up: you have to do the follow-up when the assigned project inspector and expeditor (POSE) don't follow up on your PO. High workload.
