Clinical Laboratory Scientist I - Clinical Lab Scientist Saint Luke's Employee Review

Pros

The lab houses the latest technology and first rate instrumentation. Lots of variability in type of specimens and testing performed you expect from a large metropolitan hospital; you will see it all. Generous shift differentials for evening, night, and weekend work. Very polite people to work with. Hard work is rewarded fairly with pay raises and promotions.

Cons

Constantly overworked and understaffed. Upper management seems only concerned with vague metrics and that the work gets done and not how it gets done and while mid-level management is great and understands the situation their hands are tied by upper level managers who are clueless. Because of this the quality of lab results is suffering, employees are constantly stressed, and I don't think morale could be any lower. There is zero management presence during the evening and night shifts. You just kind of fend for yourself if issues arise. Your schedule will change near weekly to cover holes and gaps in coverage.
