There is a significant lack of ambition and coherent, well-communicated plans for achieving goals. Numerous broken commitments have been made, with grand announcements made to great fanfare that are never delivered. Effective management is lacking, with individuals who seem to have stumbled into their roles and are lethargic, coasting without adding value to the business and potentially harming it and its employees. In the past twelve months, there have been numerous redundancies, but the board and executive team have never acknowledged these openly or honestly. It is difficult to trust individuals who attempt to conceal the truth from you. Work is often assigned to individuals who lack the necessary skills, and they are expected to complete the tasks despite the fact that customers are paying premium rates for skilled professionals to perform the work. These requests originate from senior leadership, not just rogue managers. The company lacks a reliable method for measuring the quality of employees, except in the support area. Consequently, poor performance is never recognised, and many managers lack the skills to identify or address poor performers. After a year of implementation, a new grading system for employees was praised highly but failed to meet expectations (except for the leadership). It turned out to be a simple spreadsheet and PDF letter, with no underlying systems or processes in place. Once, working for Sabio was something to be proud of. However, it has now become a situation where talk exceeds substance.
