Pros

- The engineering team that I worked with was excellent and genuinely cared about building quality products. - The work was fun. There were lots of opportunities to build projects and features from design to completion with a lot of autonomy. - Opportunities to work directly with some high profile partners - The company owner is fun to be around and full of ideas.

Cons

- The pay was average for Victoria, which is low for the industry. - The management of this company was very disorganized. Priorities were constantly changed, new projects were often pitched and current projects regularly got shelved. Due to the fast pace, it was impossible to properly test things before releasing them. - As a small team, developers had to fill multiple roles (DevOps, customer service, QA) without the time or training to do a proper job. - The office space was filthy and cluttered. - Constant turnover in office admin and accounting staff--I've never worked anywhere that went through staff as quickly as Synq did.

Pros

It’s the reason I work in my current field

Cons

No work life balance, the owner was verbally abusive regularly talking poorly behind the backs of his staff, calling them stupid and incompetent. There were days when I started work at 9am and was there until 9pm because the owner overcommitted to projects and timelines that were unrealistic and then would throw temper tantrums and literally threw his phone at the wall in rage at me. I regularly walked out of the office due to how toxic he made my work environment. He would pitch products to customers that didn’t even exist yet and then expect his staff to prototype and create technology that was functional in unrealistic timelines. I was the only woman on staff for a long period of time, and made less than all of the male staff. He only offered me a raise finally after I told him I wanted to quit.

Pros

They finally have health benefits. Flexible hours. Cellphone plan was ok. The day to day employees were amazing, and I'll cherish the friends I made. Learned some new skills and met some awesome people.

Cons

The CEO doesnt respect employees. The COO doesnt do his job, this leads to poor staffing and scheduling. Flexible hours means they expect an employee isto work any time they snap a finger. Zero regard for employees health. -No ppe was provided during Covid installs. Poor planning from management leads to work life breakdown. Request for paperwork and documentation is almost always late, or doesnt happen. Verbal abuse and harrassment from senior management on multiple occasions.
