Pros

You will get to learn the software sales industry inside and out. The first couple of weeks of the program is learning in depth about software sales and how to succeed in it. The middle portion is real world experience through an internship so you will get to utilize what you have learned in the real world! The last couple weeks is to make you the best interviewer so you can land the job! It’s a great program for anyone that wants to enter the role of software sales. All the mentors and instructors are very hands on and will give you constructive feedback on how to improve during the fellowship. After finishing the program you will land a great job through their myriad of employers ready to hire!

Cons

The 3 month program takes about 15-20 hours of your time each week so it can be hard to manage if you are working or going to school at the same time. The employers vary across their network. Some of them will be series A startups with little to no structure of it can be a tech company that has already IPO’d and is already established. The total compensation varies across each employer. The total $79k number that SV advertises is the base salary plus commission that you will earn in the first year. The base salaries varies from $45k-60k and then you can earn an additional $15-25k with variable bonus based on how you perform.

Pros

SV Academy got me into a tech sales job I love, I've been here 8 months now. People assume it costs money, but there's no tuition and no debt. Worth knowing how it actually works: after the training period they line you up with interviews at partner companies that match your expectations, and once you're hired the first few months are at slightly reduced pay while you ramp. SV Academy's partner companies keep 92% of people past this ramp up period, so it's not a coin flip. I got kept, I'm making good money, and I'm really happy. Whether you're brand new to sales or have experience, it's a no-brainer if you're serious about a long-term tech sales career.

Cons

If you aren't serious about a tech sales this isn't for you. The effort you put into the training period directly correlates with what you get out of SVacademy. I wouldn't plan on getting results if you show up camera off, not adding to the discussions. You don't have to be an expert, but you do have to show effort and be coachable.

Pros

Mission driven. Everyone at SV Academy is genuinely there to help. By eliminating tuition for all students and even paying them in their new Residency program, they are truly aligning their incentives with their students.

Cons

Fast paced. If you don't like constant change and innovation, this won't be the place for you.
