Pros
Compensation was adequate for the role.
Cons
Working at STI Group in Glen Rock, NJ as a Senior Network Engineer was an excruciating experience, thanks in large part to the deplorable behavior of the Chief Information Security Officer (CISO). If you value your professional growth, mental well-being, and a healthy work environment, I strongly advise you to steer clear of this organization. The CISO exhibited a complete lack of competence and leadership skills, making it nearly impossible to execute our duties effectively. Their inability to understand the complexities of the role led to a multitude of misinformed decisions that hindered our projects and jeopardized network security. It's genuinely baffling how someone so inept managed to attain such a high-ranking position within the company. The work environment created under the CISO's leadership was nothing short of hostile. There was a pervasive atmosphere of fear and anxiety, with little to no regard for the well-being of the employees. Criticism was met with retaliation, and the open exchange of ideas was actively discouraged. This lack of support made it virtually impossible to collaborate and achieve the company's goals. Moreover, the lack of opportunities for professional development was disheartening. Senior Network Engineers are expected to stay at the forefront of technology, yet this was systematically thwarted due to the CISO's refusal to invest in training and development. In conclusion, my time at STI Group was a woeful experience, thanks to the incompetence and poor leadership of the CISO. If you're considering a career with this company, think long and hard about whether you're willing to endure a hostile work environment and a stifling lack of professional growth. There are undoubtedly better places to invest your talents and expertise.
