Pros

Lots of company events (with free alcohols), such as happy hours, holidays, etc.

Cons

Toxic work environment with lack of true professionalism, prevalent favoritism, discrimination, unprofessional HR practices, office politics & gossips (encouraged by the owners of the company), etc. Employees are treated differently (and it will be made known) depending on the CEO's liking. Work-life balance is none existent, and the upper management expects and pressures employees to put in overtime by working through their PTOs and holiday breaks - "You are expected to work minimum of 40 hours every week!" The CEO exercises micro-management depending on her mood of the day and treats the employees as her personal secretary to pick up lunches and running errands. The company is run like a family style where the CEO and COO are the "parents" to all their employees who are on a tight leash, and the employees are often treated as their "children" - lack of professional respect to their employees. There is a clear tension and power struggle within the upper management members that affects the employees negatively at times. All in all, it's a very uncomfortable work environment, especially for those professional and ethical employees.

Thank you for submitting your review of SSI. We take all concerns seriously and encourage you to reach out to our new HR Manager at HR@groupssi.com to discuss your concerns. During our 21 years in business, we have responded to employee suggestions for ways to improve what we offer. For a healthy work-life balance, we offer our employees a 9/80 work schedule that allows them a day off every-other-Friday, in addition to a 3-week PTO bank and 11 paid holidays. The 40-hour work week is an accepted standard in today’s workplace, although there may be rare occasions when an employee’s particular expertise is needed outside regular business hours. We pride ourselves in hiring the best, most qualified candidates from diverse locations around the world, accepting all personality styles, and encouraging the freeform collaboration of ideas. We share our success with our employees, putting forth our best efforts in both labor and leisure, and recognize that this family-like environment may not be well-suited to everyone.

Pros

If you’re effective in your role, the company and your colleagues truly respect you and your personal priorities—whether that’s family, health, or work‑life balance. The team makes you feel included, not just as coworkers but as a close-knit group that often feels like family. I genuinely enjoyed my time there. They put real effort into building strong relationships through thoughtful gestures like team outings, lunches, and celebratory moments. There’s no micromanagement; you’re trusted with autonomy, encouraged to do great work, and given meaningful input into processes.

Cons

By the time I left, the main challenges had largely been addressed, though there were some earlier personnel issues that required attention. As the company continues to grow, implementing a proper HRIS system would be beneficial to support scalability and streamline processes.
