Pros

Their benefits package is ok, it used to be much, much better. But they have both a pension & a really good 401(k). There are lots of departments here so the variety of work is good. There is a huge opportunity for career growth on the horizon.

Cons

The recession never really hit SRP, but they froze salaries anyway and severely cut the health benefits. Almost half of the workforce is retirement eligible and many are likely retiring soon. It can be difficult to move around, it is a "good ole boys club," it is getting better, but it can be discouraging at times.

Pros

SRP gave me stability, experience, and the chance to build real skills. I had positive experiences there, and I’m grateful for parts of it. But I’m also realizing that the environment doesn’t always operate from a positive or growth-minded place, and I have to be honest about what that has cost me

Cons

The con is not that SRP is a bad place. The con is that it can give you stability and experience, but not always a clear or fair feeling of movement. You can give a lot, build a lot, and still feel like you’re waiting for someone to finally see it
