Pros

You can rely on a steady job, power company is not going anywhere so chances of layoffs due to restructuring are minimal.

Cons

They are HEAVY on degrees. To be a team lead, you require a Masters Degree. Compared to many other companies, this is not required. If you want to pursue higher level positions, you need to be prepared to fork out some bucks for school. It is VERY hard to move around within the company. You need to be a relative or a "good ol' boy" to get anywhere. Saw many people leave because of this - including myself. Got the same salary, with less education somewhere else. More education DOES NOT mean you are better at your job!

Pros

SRP gave me stability, experience, and the chance to build real skills. I had positive experiences there, and I’m grateful for parts of it. But I’m also realizing that the environment doesn’t always operate from a positive or growth-minded place, and I have to be honest about what that has cost me

Cons

The con is not that SRP is a bad place. The con is that it can give you stability and experience, but not always a clear or fair feeling of movement. You can give a lot, build a lot, and still feel like you’re waiting for someone to finally see it
