Pros

Great people to work with; entry-level experience; flexible hours

Cons

Minimal to no training; no opportunity for movement within the company - lack of opportunity for employees; extremely low pay; no pay raises; no annual review; no oversight by company management; no onsight leadership; high expectations from management concerning the number of hours employees work; extremely high turnover and "bare bones" staffing. The expectation is that PMs should find a way to get the job done, regardless of financial or freelancing resources. This job is impossible. People with decades in the industry cannot even keep up with the company's expectations. PMs elsewhere get paid three times as much as they do at SPi. Company management will exploit you if you are good at what you do.

Pros

Love my colleagues: young, smart, hip - actually look forward to going to the office to see them.

Cons

A VP, explaining why the company does not give raises, said that it is not SPi's business model to invest in employees. They prefer a revolving door: bring you in, usually via a temp agency, pay you squat, extract what they can, piling on work and responsibility with no reward or recognition, idly watch you get fed up and leave, then call the temp agency and order another sucker. They're just now learning the price of letting all that institutional knowledge walk out the door: it may shut down their North American operations. North American executives and managers have no - I repeat, no - discretionary budgetary authority. They cannot spend a nickel without Chennai's say-so, and are powerless to adjust salaries, hire personnel, or to invest in sorely needed tools and infrastructure. SPi advertises itself as a technology company, yet runs its business off of Google Docs: a self-proclaimed data-driven company that won't invest in real databases. The list goes on...
