Cons

Spruce Holdings in 2021 hired hundreds (literally) of employees to help meet the requirements of the mission. I was one of them - with 25-30 years of experience in the industry. However, their mission drove the business - hiring client experts and tons of engineers for the design of the system. However, the actual business of the company was to insure title for millions of customers all over the country. However, the process of the actual business (title insurance) was not handled by the people who actually knew what was needed - it was handled by client experts without understanding the impact of the decisions they were making. For example, they hired a client expert to streamline the entire process, however, he knew nothing about title insurance and tried to employ a salesforce product to the business. It was a disaster and after losing customers and laying off a couple of hundred people, they finally realized that the program did not meet the needs of the title insurance industry. So they spent all that money on the program and the training only to drop it when it did not work. Now they are laying off again because one of their biggest customers left due to all the confusion created by the "rollout of the new software". They just keep bumbling around and when they fall on their face - the employees pay the price.
