Pros

The company is well managed and the shift patterns are clear and fair; i.e. one person doesn't end up working every weekend or evening shift. If there are shifts to be covered, the manager will post them in the office to be picked by the staff members so you can cover as many or as little as fits your schedule. There is a 10% discount on most items in store for staff, and the tea and coffee are free. If mistakes are made on till, the staff don't usually pay for it. The managers are kind and polite and work on the floor alongside the assistants and supervisors.

Cons

Constantly working under scrutiny of cameras, staff and the public can cause anxiety; being the front of house can mean being the first to receive verbal or physical assault from customers, there are no chairs to sit on, so often spend nine or more hours on feet constantly. There should be a stool to elevate feet on to reduce swelling on long shifts. Because the till area cannot be left unsupervised, there can be long periods of boredom if all tasks are finished.
