You gain a lot of all around operational management experience. This includes HR, project management, AR, AP, budgeting and location management.
Cons
I worked a lot of hours with little support from senior leadership. A senior leader once told me at as a salaried employee, my time is their time. I worked 60 hours on an good week but sometimes over 80 hours in a week.
