Pros

Great office. I enjoyed the face paced work and it allowed for me to grow. My co-workers were very diverse and interesting people but I couldn't help but feel like they were taken advantage of. It is obvious that they are trying to change the mentality / beginning to listen to some of the criticisms which is greatly appreciated but is still not enough. Flex Schedule is nice and nobody was micromanaging when I come in and leave.

Cons

Where to begin? I'd say the number one reason people leave Soltech is fear. Over my year tenure I saw several of my close friends/co-workers fired without warning. Another co-worker put in his two weeks notice and they immediately fired him (not even sure if that's legal). Most of the mentality is focused on draining every last dime from the customer instead of providing the best product. The company is so used to keeping people for such a short time they don't invest in any lunch and learns which is annoying when you see people making the same mistakes over and over. The vacation time they provide is very low and I passed up on many trips due to simply not having PTO. The machines they have everybody working on are outdated, the internet is slow when it's actually up and working. I requested licensed software several times but it fell on deaf ears. Unless you're a core member of Soltech or a higher up there is no working from home which is incredibly unattractive as an employee (going back to squeezing every last penny out of us). I waited several months for my review and never got it which was the big reason I left. (KEEP IN MIND THAT SEVERAL OF THESE GLASS DOOR REVIEWS ARE WRITTEN BY RECRUITERS WORKING AT SOLTECH CURRENTLY. THEY TRY TO OFFSET ALL OF THESE NEGATIVE REVIEWS. THERE ISN'T A PERSON I WORKED WITH OVER THE PAST YEAR THAT WOULD RATE THEM 5/5 ON ANYTHING).

Thank you for taking the time to share your thoughts about working with us. First, I am glad you enjoyed our office space and felt like you grew in your career while you were with us. Our team is very diverse as you mentioned and we value their contribution and suggestions on how to make SOLTECH the best place to work. There are several points you have brought up, and I will do my best to address as many of them as possible, but I want to say that I am sorry you experienced these issues and that they were not addressed during your time with us. Internet Speeds: Yes, there was a time when we were about to move our office and our internet speed was slower than desired. We knew we would be moving offices and decided to wait to increase our bandwidth until we were in the new office due to contract timings with our internet service provider. The move has now occurred and our speed has been greatly improved. Machines: We have recently reviewed all hardware devices and asked everyone if they needed a new computer to work more efficiently. We are in the process of completing these purchases. Licenses: Our Software Solutions team keeps track of our software license needs. If there is a request for additional licenses, we have a faster process in place to evaluate the need and make the purchase. Lunch and Learns: We host a lunch and learn any time one of our team members has something they want to share. You can see several of these lunch and learn topics on our Twitter and Facebook feeds. Our most recent Lunch and Learn was on D3. Work from Home: We now have a work from home policy and we have always permitted flexible hours so employees can manage their commutes and doctor’s appointments accordingly. Glassdoor Reviews: While Glassdoor reviews are confidential and it is impossible to say whether or not our recruiters wrote our positive reviews, I can say that we do not ask them to write reviews on our behalf. We openly invite them to read the existing reviews and ask any questions of us directly. Our object is to promote a culture of openness and honesty. PTO: Our PTO policy is 15 days per year. This is standard in the industry and allows us to balance our client deliverables with our time away from the office for our employees. Thank you again for letting us address the changes we have made since your departure. I personally want to wish you the best in your career and hope we may be able to help you again in the future. Pros

As a Software Engineer, I’ve had the privilege of working with a talented and collaborative team, where innovation and creativity are strongly encouraged. The company offers numerous opportunities to work on exciting projects using cutting-edge technologies, which keeps the work dynamic and rewarding. Flexibility is another highlight, with supportive policies for remote work and adaptable work hours, helping to maintain a great work-life balance. The benefits package is exceptional, including comprehensive health insurance, 401k matching, and generous paid time off, which really contributes to employee well-being. The company also offers opportunities for professional growth through bench projects and a variety of online courses, making it easy to expand skill sets and explore new technologies. Management is transparent and clear in their communication, ensuring that the company’s goals and direction are well understood. I appreciate the leadership’s dedication to fostering an inclusive culture, providing growth opportunities, and supporting innovation. Overall, I’ve had a very positive experience and look forward to continuing to contribute to this incredible team.

Pros

Met some great people. Worked with some great tech. Learned. Grew.

Cons

The moment they didn't need me, I got layed off. No warning. No thanks for having you. No way to go working hard for us for years. Just a you're out and cut all my comms. Couldnt even get a reference after years of dedicated service. Hurts the most that people I thought were friends just turn their back the moment things get difficult. I get business but not even saying goodbye? Just felt cold blooded. I loved that company. I gave it my all. Also pretty sure they screwed me on my last check. Tried to send comms but they just ignore me. Cold shoulder. Chris Drake and Thayer were great to work with. If you get a chance to work with either of them take it. Really wish I got to say goodbye to them.
