Pros
A big plus is Stanford benefit. Some groups even offer hybrid options. It’s a good career opportunity for early-career scientists and engineers. As many have mentioned, there are a lot of smart and reasonable people.
Cons
Some teams aren’t a great fit for non-scientists or non-engineers, and parts of the culture can feel a bit political and unhealthy. Among some long-time employees, things like withholding information, limiting access to resources, and gossiping still happen. Psychological safety feels low in some groups. Hiring and retention system also don’t seem very strong.
