Pros

The only positive attribute that sets this company apart from others was that they offered free health/dental benefits. I'm struggling to search for other pros, and in an effort to give a fair and balanced review, but I honestly cannot think of any.

Cons

I don't even know where to start... This is a company that was built on high hopes of winning a $2.8 billion contract for their ST-246 smallpox anti-viral product. After an appeal from a competitor, Chimerix, the contract was finally awarded, but at a meager $433 million for 1.7 million courses. Since then, SIGA has been plagued from a nasty congressional hearing and investigation into the Obama's administration unethical and non-compliant award. Furthermore, SIGA has been involved in an anti-trust case with Pharmathene citing that SIGA violated an agreement over the smallpox medicine, Arestvyr. When SIGA was found liable, they were forced into bankruptcy and now operate under bankruptcy protection. Since bankruptcy, all research staff has been let go and the lab has been closed with next-door neighbor Serepta Therapeutics absorbing some staff. Just a few bodies remain at the Corvallis site, most of whom are dedicated to the management of the ST-246 contract. It was sad to see myself and all of my loved colleagues let go essentially overnight. Throughout several years with SIGA, I've seen a lot of dishonesty, petty behavior and unethical practices unfold. Last but not least, the management has something to say for itself. Upon the news of the contract award, the CSO unloaded 300,000 options resulting in a multi-million payday. He also married one of his staff who is 30 years his junior. The senior management in New York have also been recycled with the CFO and Controller leaving, just to name a few. Other than that, you get a sense that the management are very petty and, for lack of a better word, crybabies. SIGA is a perfect case study of how not to run a company, or rather how to run one for self-absorbing and greedy pleasures. I feel sorry for those who have families and homes as there are not many professional options for those working in the life sciences. I'm sure if SIGA had their research facility in Boston or the Bay Area, either most of the good talent would have left ages ago, or SIGA would've had to adapt even to save face for their questionable ST-246 product and HHS contract award.
