Pros

Nice office to work from on days when you can get a space

Cons

Staff Instability and High Turnover SCCU suffers from exceptionally high staff turnover. This creates a pervasive atmosphere of job insecurity among current employees. We frequently overhear detailed discussions about the frequent dismissal of previous staff members, leading to constant anxiety and the unsettling question: "How long until my position is also terminated?" This environment is incredibly detrimental to team morale and overall productivity. Inconsistent Management and Favoritism Management practices are highly inconsistent and appear biased. There is a clear issue with favoritism, where a select group of employees is seemingly allowed to engage in appalling, unprofessional, or disruptive workplace behavior without consequence. This failure to enforce standards equitably undermines management's authority and fosters deep resentment among staff who adhere to expected professional conduct. Inadequate Training and Onboarding The initial onboarding and induction training process was severely lacking, bordering on non-existent. New hires are essentially left to figure things out independently, which leads to confusion, mistakes, and a prolonged period of unproductive adjustment. A fundamental failure in the company's commitment to setting its employees up for success. Overall Sentiment The current working environment is extremely negative and demoralising. There is a sense of discontent, and the prevailing feeling among staff is a desperate desire to leave the organisation as soon as a new opportunity arises.

Pros

I was told by the recruitment service that handled my interviews this was a fantastic place to work that looked after people. As you can imagine I thought 'of course they would say that' and didn't think much of it. It wasn't until I started and spent some time reflecting after my first few months that comment found it's way back into my thoughts. The recruiter was right, this is a fantastic place to work and the people are the backbone of this. What we do is provide education delivery, how we do it is what sets this company apart. Everything feels human first and a relaxed working environment is met with professional visions and targets. There is a big ambition here and this makes you find value in the work you're doing whilst feeling valued by colleagues. I have had the privilege to work at two companies now that have managed to walk the line of creating a positive workplace culture whilst not losing sight of the work, This was a big thing when I left my previous role because I didn't think I would get to enjoy that comfort again. However, SCCU made it happen. I'm now confident I can echo the same words the recruiter said to me, to anyone else.

Cons

Lack of high-end espresso machine! but... I'm working on that.

Pros

Genuinely one of the most down-to-earth and authentic cultures I’ve experienced. There’s a real sense that people care — not just about the business, but about each other and the impact of the work. The learner is clearly at the centre of everything, which gives real purpose to what you’re doing day to day. The team works brilliantly together, and there’s a strong alignment in values which makes a big difference. Leadership are both visionary and supportive — you feel like you’re part of something that’s growing with intent, not just chasing numbers. There’s a lot of energy in the business right now, and it’s an exciting time to be part of that journey.

Cons

As with any scaling organisation, it can feel quite “all hands on deck” at times. Processes and structure are still evolving, so not everything is perfect or fully polished yet. That said, there’s a clear awareness of this, and the business is actively working to improve and build as it grows.
