Pros
Working at SCA has been extremely reqarding. Since working here I have had many opportunities for both personal development and career advancement. I went from being a staff OR nurse to the OR manager within 8 months of hire. I became the interim Clinical Lead after working at SCA for less than 3 years of hire and was promoted to Director of Nursing less than 4 years of hire. SCA has provided me the the tools, resources, and the support to grow in my leadership roles. It has been an amazing journey working in this organization thus far! SCA is a value-based organization. Culture is set of behaviors, values, rituals, that make up an organization. You can feel and see the culture in our center and in the organization because it is often evident in people’s behavior, enthusiasm, and within the space itself. We are like family!
Cons
Not necessarily a "con" if you aren't opposed to working hard....We all must wear multiple hats and are responsible to do so much more within our centers. Therefore, I've been able to learn so much more than I'd ever learn working elsewhere. I've had the opportunity to learn, grow, and lead as our center's Employee Health Nurse, Infection Prevention Coordinator, Radiation Safety Officer, and Laser Safety Officer. Learning and growing personally and professionally in this organization has been limitless for me. If it doesn't challenge me , it isn't changing me...the biggest rewards in my life are found outside my comfort zone! Like everything in life, I'll only get what I put in. When I work hard, I know it is making a positive impact not just in my own life, but in others too! Before I was a leader, my success was all about growing myself. Now that I am a leader, my success will be about growing others.
