Pros

There are pockets of genuine people with good intentions and exceptional talent. Access to JMBA (fitness center) for most employees, Lighthouse Resort, Company Store, Profit Sharing, 401K match and 401K contribution.

Cons

For a company that touts itself as a "family" company and prides itself on ethical operations, mine and many other's experience at SCJ is terribly disappointing. The politics and lack of organization that often accompanies family-owned companies exists at SCJ, but it is grossly amplified. The CEO has a compulsive need to control the operations down to the nitty gritty details, meaning he needs to approve everything, down to promotions, merit increases, budget requests, adds to staff, project verbiage, aesthetic, etc. For this reason, projects and cultural change is very slow. There is also a "hurry up and wait", antiquated mentality for many leaders. Expect to work within unreasonable deadlines without necessary resources, only to be told to wait for months. Sexism, racism, ageism, favoritism, and overall lack of inclusion perpetuates a very elitist, "white-boys only club" atmosphere. The most shocking, shameful and despicable act by SCJ is their complete and utter failure to take care of their employees during the pandemic. From the very first week that employees went home at the beginning of COVID-19, SCJ has been ADAMANT about forcing employees to come back to the office. The anxiety, stress, and degrading propaganda they force down the throats of employees is sickening. If you wanted to continue to work from home, you were required to go through a lengthy medical exception process that burdened the employees, and also the medical professionals who are too busy to have to worry about something like that. If you were an employee that "volunteered" to go back to the office, you were rewarded with free products and praised. If you were working from home, there was a very obvious stigma from leaders, but also pressure to return. It's been traumatic to say the least. The gaslighting, the abuse of power, and the violation of trust has done more than just left a rotten taste in the mouth of employees. Employees are truly suffering because of the treatment and lack of accountability. The company should be ashamed. Takeaway: Look elsewhere. There are plenty of companies that offer comparable and better benefits, culture, salaries, flexibility, and opportunity.

Pros

You will not be bothered by people talking to you, benefits seem okay.

Cons

Don’t expect to be trained on anything. Management will expect you to figure things out on your own, request your own accesses and figure out what you need without any guidance. They’ll send people to you for questions on how to do stuff within your first couple days, not having taught you how to do those things.
