Pros

SB has found some talented professionals that are designing amazing architecture to tell a story and create experiences. A few people are trying hard to create a culture that is energetic, enjoyable, and rewarding. No dog policy in place so I brought my little one in a few days a week.

Cons

The Marketing Team at SB Architects is not a healthy environment for a skilled designer or marketer to continue and grow a career. The department goals are never mentioned or mapped out and communication and collaboration are discouraged (I was actually told to not collaborate with my teammates). There is zero understanding on how to grow and guide a team to success. Zero flexibility (unless you're an architect) so 9 hour days are difficult. Marketing department must start at 8am, however architects have more flexibility. Everyone works on PCs even Graphic Designers. Low salaries. I worked here for 6 months and had no idea what I was walking into. My mental health suffered monumentally and I did not learn anything that applies to my career. Unless you are beyond desperate for a job I do not recommend working here.

Pros

The office is close to a major landmark.

Cons

I worked at SB ARCHITECTS for a year and found it to be a mixed experience. While the initial onboarding was promising, I quickly realized the work environment was quite toxic. Toxic Work Culture: The overall atmosphere was tense, with frequent backbiting and negativity among team members. Instead of collaboration, there was an internal competition that made it difficult to feel like a valued part of the team. It often felt like everyone was out for themselves, leading to stress and low morale. Lack of Support from Leadership: One of the most disheartening aspects was the senior leadership. There was a noticeable trend of senior employees taking credit for the work of junior team members. This not only undermined the efforts of those who genuinely contributed but also discouraged innovation and initiative among the younger staff. Many of us felt our ideas and hard work went unrecognized. Overall, I would not recommend SB architects SF office unless substantial changes are made to address these issues.
