Pros

The product, in my opinion is one of the best on the market. It's never hard to sell something that you love.

Cons

Many of the new products are not able to boast "Made in America". This is beyond tragic. It's one of the biggest selling points. Our loyal customers LOVE that. SAS used to take pride in their Managers, but now under this new leadership, Micro-Managing seems to be the trend. The pay is disgusting for a high end retail shoe store. Not to mention an embarrassing 1% bonus for the store Manager. What upper Management fails to grasp is a very simple concept. If there is a revolving door with store Managers, it's a very safe bet that the problem was NOT the store Managers, but the ones above them. That's just common sense. Whoever is at the helm in Marketing is mentally challenged! They seem to think that putting a few ads in obscure magazines, doing e-mail blasts, and setting up the displays in every store across the nation is the key to success. WOW! Unless you get to know the customer base for each store...you are wrong! Guess who knows those customers? It's NOT the person buried behind the desk in SanAntonio. This person is clueless.

SAS Shoes Response

Your feedback as an employee is very important to us. We value the opinions of employees like yourself, and take them into consideration as we move forward. With an ever changing consumer market, we’ve had to make changes in the way we operate and how we market our products. While many shoe companies have outsourced their production to third-party contract manufacturers, we at SAS stick firmly to keeping our production in our own factories in Del Rio and San Antonio, Texas. We own and operate a sister plant in Acuna, Mexico (directly across the border from Del Rio, TX) where specific operations such as hand sewing and hand stitching take place on a few of our styles. We also work with a multi-generational family-owned Italian shoe manufacturer that has helped us design and engineer a new line of stylish women's dress shoes and pumps. Some of those styles are made in Italy and some are made in our US-based facilities. We at SAS also realize the need to stay on trend with our marketing strategies to stay successful in an increasingly competitive market. Those strategies vary across the nation and by region when and where they make sense. As with any change, we try to keep our employees’ welfare top of mind and take all feedback under consideration.
