Pros

The company offers plenty of benefits, but medical can be expensive. Ryder offers opportunity for growth since it is a fortune 500 company.

Cons

Working at Ryder Integrated Logistics was one of the worst experiences of my life! Be prepared to work holidays, work your but off, and pretty much deal with managers who are amateurs in the transportation industry. Currently the Pembroke Pines location has alot of issues, and their excuse is that it is a start up (funny how there are five other locations with the same process and they have not learned yet?). A typical day at work is sweating heavy (because of no fans, or A/C), constantly lifting big boxes that weight close to 70 lbs, inhaling dust, long work hours (no life) and working in a unsafe hostile environment. Each day at work someone is getting hurt, and good team play, or support from managers does not exist. The turnover rate is pretty high for a start up. The Pembroke Pines location is actually located out in South West Ranches, it is a cross dock with no bathrooms, cafeteria, or offices built yet. The team leads are hand picked employees who have no experience at all, the second shift supervisor is very unethical (will have you clock out if you did something he does not like), cuts your lunch time short, does not know how to talk to employees (yells all the time), has a favoritism with female employees, and just sits on his butt all day/night watching his cell phone while the team leads do all of his supervising. The management staff are what give Ryder a bad reputation, I was told that there was a third shift and once work flow started, the third shift was eliminated in favor to cut costs and overwork employees. The warehouse is run under the lean six sigma model, but only the supply chain engineers are capable of the methodology because the senior logistics/warehouse managers are clueless in that regard (The only capable employee is the engineer who does everything!!). Safety is a huge topic at Ryder, but unfortunately does not apply to this location as the work environment is very hazardous with the lack of proper tools, work supplies, and proper training. The warehouse is constantly going thru different processes that is supposed to make the work more efficient (old technology unfortunately), yet they fail to hit that mark, and probably never will. We are in our second change and the work has gone from bad to worst. I would not recommend anyone working for Ryder Integrated Logistics, their bread and butter is the truck leasing division, and thru my experience I have seen how weak their knowledge in supply chain management & logistics is (managers keep asking low level staff to help improve the work process). P.S. I have a college education in supply chain management, and am certified in lean six sigma, and I would rather take my skills to their competition who are the true leaders in the industry with a focus in innovation. And I recommend the company change it's slogan from "ever better" to "ever worst"

Pros

You get to work on real supply chain problems that actually matter to operations, not just theoretical stuff. Remote flexibility is solid and the work-life balance is fair. The tech stack is modern (Snowflake, Azure, Power BI) and if you're someone who takes initiative, you'll get the chance to own things end-to-end. The people you work with day-to-day are genuinely good and most teams have a collaborative culture.

Cons

Growth from senior level and beyond can be painfully slow even when you're clearly doing the work above your role. Leadership and org changes happen often which resets your visibility and momentum with whoever is advocating for you. Some areas still lack clear ownership so things fall through the cracks or land on whoever is willing to pick them up. Pay doesn't always reflect the scope of what you're actually doing.
