Pros
Great hours if you are a working parent, Enough days to cover school closings and sick days Great learning environment, opportunity to get experience in specific areas especially in not for profit. if you love learning, its a great environment
Cons
Not easy to get promoted, the system is clogged with old timers just waiting their time out to retire, For a university, they tend to hire people without a degree a lot and at the same pay rate for the graduates. HR is not supportive of lower level employees, so a lot of managers get away with unethical treatment of employees.
