Pros

- Great supervisors who genuinely cared about their employees and students - Excellent salary and benefits if you are lucky enough to get a permanent full-time job here - You get to be part of a thriving research college environment that consistently hosts community-based events like Rutgers Day.

Cons

- In order to receive the aforementioned excellent salary and benefits, you must be designated a PERMANENT full-timer, not just a TEMPORARY full-timer. Sometimes, the HR office changes this status in the middle of the academic year without informing you. - Rutgers is a large, well-know state employer so there are thousands of other applicants gunning for the same position. In addition, many supervisors already have a candidate in mind but they must still post the job listing online. Even if you are more than qualified for a certain job, it more than likely won't cut it. - In certain departments, there is no upward mobility so you need to find a new job in another department but then you run into the above problem.

Pros

co-workers are super nice, friendly and collaborative. Good flexibility in work arrangements. My immediate boss is nice.

Cons

Morale is quite low, and turnover is high. We are losing good people and goals are not being met. Senior Leader tell us to do more with less, and do not want constructive feedback. They don't lead by example, taking elaborate trips instead of being present and supporting staff. Rules don't apply to them. So disappointing, not what you would expect from a public university.
