Pros

If you're in EMS you know most places are the same. Ambulances and equipment are expensive to fix and always breaking down. Other people with negative attitudes can bring you down for entire shifts because you practically live with these people. I've worked a lot of places and this is just the field not the company so I'm basing it on what they try to do better. They do try and give incentives and pay well. They do try to work with you if you are having issues. You're going to get some nice bonuses and some good opportunities for extra money, but you're going to have similar experiences as far as the job itself, that won't change unless EMS changes. Benefit of the doubt, I had costs vs reimbursement laid out for me and this model isn't nearly as profitable as I thought and so I feel like I have a better understanding of why things are the way they are.

Cons

Like I said in the pros, they are all the same as far as cons go. I have worked for places that crack a whip and like to yell, if anything it gets old watching the crews walk all over management rather than just doing their job and going home. I get partners who will refuse calls and I feel like it makes me look bad. As hourly employees, even if we have a busy day I feel like long downtimes is a perk not a necessity, some people will refuse what they call and long distance transfer even if they've had 10 to 15 hours of downtime first. It's annoying.

Pros

The bonuses when not getting threatened to not pay them out are great and almost hit a livable wage… almost (also you have to make sure your partner does their job because it’s not just if you don’t turn in your own work it’s based off if your partner does as well).

Cons

If you want all of your equipment, radios, and trucks to not work and get blamed, have your livelihood taken from you, and have your licensed threatened this is the place for you! Oh yes and the daily nasty grams as management likes to call them are still happening.
