Don't fall for the "BTS Posts" (Behind The Scenes) on their Social Media. Working for them really sucks. - Anonymous employee Ruche Employee Review

Pros

Shopping discounts for Ruche & Threadsence

Cons

Their employee turnover is very high. I was there for over a year & at least 30 employees were gone (80% of them leaving by choice). They don't appreciate their workers no matter how loyal they think they're being by choosing to stay & stick it out. I completely agree with the last person who wrote a review here & it has only gotten worse since then. They've taken away Free Lunch Fridays due to budget cuts & have even had to cut hours during multiple occasions, but the way they do it makes no sense. They'll cut hours during the holidays (obviously the busiest time of the year in retail) & then be upset with the change in productivity. If you're friends with the higher ups, its ok to make mistakes because they can just place the blame on other people. Some of the higher ups have no idea how to do their job even though they have been there for years & are constantly corrected by their own team members. Also, they're very sneaky about how they handle their pay & benefits to employees. They know all the loopholes. For instance, if you are hired on as part-time, but eventually start working 40 hours a week (AKA full-time), you're not qualified for benefits because you're still considered a part-time worker in your paperwork since that's how they hired you on. The budget cuts have probably come about because of the stupid way they spend their money. Thousands of dollars are spent on trips for the higher ups to go on & throw events at places like New York for Fashion Week or the like & are even told to tell people that it went well even though it didn't. The employees at least knew the truth because there would be no increase in sales. Not only that, they've spent thousands of dollars every year on Coachella trying to promote their sister site "Threadsence". They house & feed bloggers, the higher ups & a few "helpers" & also give away merch in hopes that it'll help promote us. It never really worked & sales never increased. Also, the co-owners like to buy hundreds of chicken nuggets from McDonald's on random days. All this spending & yet its like pulling teeth when they need to buy equipment actually NEEDED (they'll try to "repair" it as many times as possible til it actually breaks & dies til a new piece of equipment needs to be bought). Oh, & all those glamorous, fun behind-the-scenes posts you see on their FB & Instagram? That's usually all the fun had by the people who work in the office (there's a complete separation between warehouse employees & office employees). Even they can tell you how much the company will suck the happiness out of your soul. Bottom line: everyone that has left before & after me has gone on to better things & are 1,000x happier. Be warned.

Pros

Laid back environment, discount, friendly co-workers, not a lot of overtime required

Cons

There is no structure at this company, and no stability. Major business decisions are made by amateurs with little to no experience. Most of upper management is either a family member or a close friend, so if you get hired on from the outside you will definitely feel out of place. Some managers have been with the company for so long they cannot embrace change, they fight it and continue to make the same mistakes over and over. The owners let certain managers with lack of experience "run" the company for them and nothing gets approved. Opinions (creative and analytical) are constantly shut down, or overlooked as a "bad business decision."
