Pros

Good benefits for full time employees. Insurance is mostly fully paid for by the company and a generous PTO accrual system is in place as well. Once a year we get a bonus in December but it is funded by the residents to my knowledge, not the company. Employees are allowed full access to the gym, pool, sauna, and other facilities that the manor offers.

Cons

Pay is less than industry standard. While the PTO is nice in theory, it is truly a matter of if you get approved or not. The management keeps time off requests unapproved for months on end up until the week of the schedule releasing leading you to question if you will really get your vacation approved. New hires come in at higher rates of pay and positions than current cooks and remain untrained in any of the functions of those current cooks. Not all kitchens are equally staffed. You’ll be lucky to get placed into the manor kitchen (the easiest) where with a full crew the chef management still can’t seem to tie it all together. If you work at a kitchen where no chef management is present you will have your state required breaks neglected and you will only be able to take a thirty minute lunch breaks on many of your shifts. There is no free shift meal of any kind.

Pros

Residents and management invest in those who invest in them - lots of educational and professional growth opportunities and tuition assistance. One-of-a-kind paid CNA and CMA training program. Great medical benefits, 401K, investment, and PTO programs. Flexible scheduling (for the most part, there has to be balance). Pay is reviewed yearly to remain competitive. Plenty of options if one role isn't the right fit, you can switch departments and try something else. Administration is present and open to feedback. HR investigates complaints thoroughly. Resident generously donate to yearly Christmas gift checks, tuition programs, and other relief aids for staff. Good interdepartmental collaboration.

Cons

New system changes, policy changes, and other updates could be communicated more timely and appropriately for leadership and staff. The start of the quarterly all-staff meetings is helpful. Training for new managers and middle-management is vital! It is getting better but could still use some improvement. Set people up for success instead of "figure it out as you go" type of training.
