Pros

I started RB in 2023 straight out of uni. Like most people, it was my first corporate job and I didn’t really have any relevant experience that would get me hired anywhere else and that’s one of the best things about Rockborne. You can get experience without needing experience. The training is fantastic, covering up to date technical skills used by businesses today as well as soft skills like presentation, stakeholder management and interview skills. The training also becomes flexible after the first 16 weeks if you haven’t been placed, you have a say in what you want to learn. I learned so much that within a year I was able to get a job as a fully remote software developer and now I’m coding from the beaches of the beautiful Philippines ☀️🏝️🏖️ overall this is a good company and the staff are very friendly, I would recommend this place to anyone who lacks real business experience or technical skills as you are paid to train and that’s fairly rare. If you manage to get placed, then the model has worked on you, your career is officially launched. However, if you are laid off at rockborne, the training will have put you in a much better position to find a job than before you joined!

Cons

Layoffs aren’t great, but it’s happening everywhere so can’t put the blame solely on RB. There was quite a lot whilst I was there, however I’ve heard there is a new business model in place to prevent over hiring and therefore layoffs. Job security wasn’t very high, but again may have changed!

Pros

Adequate training especially for those with no background in the industry

Cons

• Initially advertised as a data engineering training scheme with almost no clients and little training on skills regarding a role like this • The data coaches are clearly overloaded as little feedback is received for many pieces of work, even with multiple attempts to follow up • Awful communication all around: managements handling of redundancies; when not on client site, the ‘bench’ is a mess, with no clear plan from the coaches • Terrible planning from management, they took on more employees with the expectation that they would have more clients, eventually leading to mass redundancies when they evidently exaggerated their growth trajectory; unlikely to learn their lesson with 2 mass redundancies in 2 years and little change in the team making these decisions

Pros

Easy commute. A short walk from the station.

Cons

Management bullies employees to make them quit instead of admitting that they can no longer afford the salary. Honesty has never been their strongest trait as can be seen in some of the other reviews about them.
