Pros
There are no pros to working at Ripon College. You will hear plenty of younger faculty claim that the surrounding area is "nice". One out of every dozen faculty is a decent human being. They get eaten alive by the administration.
Cons
Older faculty were generally out of touch, with a handful being tremendously insecure about their lack of accomplishment, status, etc. I witnessed one older faculty bully his new hire. He had a penchant for discussing female student's bodies. Enjoyed his private "man's night" where women were not allowed to attend. Made the experience of living in a small town incredibly lonely. He would refer to potential hires ethnicities, religions, and sexual orientations like options on a menu providing great insight into how he views the world. Would not raise a finger for anyone else and would chronically complain about being ill or not well. The leadership are a red flag. Be careful around them. Trustees are made up of folks from "the golden age" of Ripon college (e.g., pre 1980s). They are incapable of hearing how awful things are on campus and are happy to hang out with fellow alumni and feel special. They help nobody. They funneled money into PR recently to offset their dwindling enrollment numbers and mounting sexual assault scandals. To this day I still have students reaching out to me searching for a way out. Its terribly sad. While teaching at Ripon, students would constantly share how one professor would make them sexually uncomfortable. I was told to silence this and not pursue it further. A student was assaulted by a football player who was then made into a "star". They do everything they can to kill stories in the crib, They tell students on day 1 that they "wouldn't succeed anywhere else and only with Ripon's guidance they will make something of themselves." Predators. It will eat away at you working for predators with no creed. Especially when the pay is so incredibly abysmal. You can make three times as much taking your skills anywhere else.
