Pros

I had the opportunity to work with some great engineers and thought provoking cases. The salary was very good and benefits were inline with the industry.

Cons

District Managers main task is not supporting the staff but profitability. Rimkus goes through District Managers like crazy. They are the fall guys. The company has unrealistic expectations for report turn around, 10 days. With the technical review of the reports and then CPC review of the reports. The 10 day turn around is a complete joke. The CPC needs to go away. The insurance clients Rimkus have unrealistic expectations. Demanding and complain when you explain that there are real reasons for the delay. The office I worked had about a 100% turn over in several years.

Thank you for your candor. We agree that we have great engineers on staff, exciting work, and competitive salaries and benefits. All companies exist to make money, but our focus at Rimkus is not on profitability alone. Making a difference for our clients and, in turn, for the customers they serve is at the heart our business. Moreover, we have leadership initiatives in place to train managers, minimize turnover, and ensure that supervisors empower team members to reach their full potential. It’s true that our work environment is fast-paced and report turnaround times can be ambitious, but we have simplified operations to make deadlines easier to achieve. The good-old-boy network has departed. Fresh leadership, forward thinking, and employee-friendly policies are how we earn the respect of our customers, employees, and competitors.

Pros

Great work life balance. Pay is generally pretty competitive. Company likes to promote from within. Loyalty is rewarded.

Cons

There is a lot of change happening within the organization and communication around change is lacking.

Pros

They pay bus development managers above average

Cons

I was hired for business development but was set up to fail. I was asked to tell customers we provide full-service engineering in South Florida, even though we didn’t have the staff, no electrical engineer and no Threshold Engineer, needed for the work. Many structural projects in the area require a Threshold Engineer, yet I was told to mislead clients about our capabilities. Immediately after starting, I learned my manager was interviewing. The company operates on a shoestring budget. There is no money to sponsor customer events or trade shows outside the Northeast, where they’ve acquired two engineering firms in the past five years. The BES division is barely surviving, while Forensics is doing well, but overall, lack of resources and poor planning make it very hard to succeed here, especially when your boss is vigorously interviewing to leave.
