Pros

Some of the client work is interesting (but barely) and there are a few great people at the company.

Cons

It's annoying that you have to give an overall rating; even one star is generous for this place. While a few of the accounts are fun to work on most of it is uninspiring and lacking in any creativity. Their approach is the opposite of innovative and the pressure to do a lot of work with not enough billable hours to cover the company's overhead leads to outsourcing most of the actual deliverables. The company markets themselves well but don't be fooled, most of what they produce for clients is terrible and yields very little results. Ask for a report showing ROI or results for anything at all and it's crystal clear they are just taking people's money. If you're considering working there, you should know turnover is incredibly high. Find former employees on LinkedIn and ask what their experience has been. You'll ask the company all the "right" questions and they will answer with whatever they think you want to hear. Then you'll get there and it won't take long to see what's really going on. Raises? Nope! Reimbursement for travel? Maybe, but only if you work more than a 12-hour day and don't be surprised if your mileage gets questioned - the company needs that extra fifty eight cents! Vacation? Sure, but you will get in trouble if you don't check email at least once a day and show proof of having done so. If you have a family or any sort of life outside of the office you're in the worst position. There is zero work/life balance. You might be taken in by the promise of "flexibility" and the "family friendly" atmosphere. Exactly zero spouses, partners or kids are allowed at company events. Salaries are well below industry average and given all the other BS there really aren't any perks to speak of. The "management" team is a joke. Not a single person there knows how to run a business much less an agency. They don't even have HR so forget about having fair policies in place, unless they are for the benefit of the managers. Oh, and the "policies" change all the time so don't get too comfy with working from home or having a flexible schedule or a bonus (some staff were told to forget about bonuses within a few hours of them being announced to "set realistic expectations"). The hypocrisy is astonishing. Employees are expected to track their time by the minute while managers brush it off despite claiming to adhere to the very strict policy. The managers routinely do the things that lowly staff get reprimanded for - taking lunch, working from home, not tracking vacation (everyone is supposed to be at the same level based on years of service but at least one manager seems to have unlimited time off). The list of red flags is endless. Working there was traumatic.

As one of the Managing Partners at Right Source Marketing, I feel it important to set the record straight on this particular employee’s perception of the company. There are so many inaccuracies, that I figured the best way to respond was point by point: Interesting Clients: The types of clients we work with vary from virtually every type of technology company, to financial services, health care, professional services, education and non-profit. All of these clients occupy a particular niche, and are highly considered purchases, meaning that the prospective buyer typically does a great deal of due diligence before making a buying decision. That makes our work extremely interesting, and requires key people on the Right Source Marketing team to be highly strategic. Client Results: We pride ourselves on delivering client results. In the world of content-driven marketing, everything is measurable. That is why we deliver monthly reports to clients and stand behind the outcomes that our marketing delivers. We have quite a few clients that have been with us for multiple years, a few of which have been with us for 5+ years. For a 7-year-old company, that’s saying something. Compensation and Support: Right Source Marketing is committing to hiring only the best talent, and have been successful in doing so. We recognize that in order to get and keep top talent, we need to compensate fairly and treat everyone with the respect they deserve. That is exactly what we do, which is why the company’s first employee (outside of the founders) is still with us close to 7 years after being hired. Many others have been with us for 4+ years, including two Marketing Coordinators that have advanced to more senior positions, one of our Managing Editors and our VP of Content Marketing. While we are highly selective when hiring, occasionally we have an employee that isn’t getting their work done in a high quality way. We do whatever we can to train and support them, but ultimately, if it’s not a good match, we need to part ways. Business Managers: Right Source has a leadership team that consists of 5 people. One of the leaders has successfully started and sold two other businesses over a career that spans close to 4 decades. Two leaders ran their own businesses before starting Right Source Marketing. The other two leaders have had significant leadership roles at large ad agencies and media companies. We are certainly not perfect, but we are always working to improve ourselves and the company that we’re proud to have built together. Vacations: We have a clear policy on PTO, and everyone is encouraged to take every day that’s coming to them. We only ask that work responsibilities be taken care of before and after vacations. There are those among us that like keeping up with responsibilities while on vacation, but that is not a requirement of the job. Travel Expense Reimbursement: Every employee knows that we pay the legally required mileage whenever there is travel. As the guy that handles both HR and Finance, I can tell you that this is never questioned. We Love Kids: We love having kids visit us at the office, which has happened frequently over the year. And while many of our company events are for adults only (like happy hours and holiday parties) we often have summer outings in which kids are invited.

Pros

Right Source Marketing is committed to its employees and customers. They go the extra mile to ensure both customer success and satisfaction. Additionally, they care about their employees and work hard to create a happy, healthy, and inspired work environment. I appreciate the fact that the team at Right Source works hard and plays hard.

Cons

As a small company, Right Source Marketing is not always in a position to move as fast as employees think the company should move. Especially since the company is growing, maturing, and evolving, this can sometimes create challenges for those that do not like change. The fact is... Right Source is very entrepreneurial and and is presents an exceptional opportunity for individuals that share in that spirit. Unfortunately, it can have the opposite impact on those that do not have the same desire to grow, mature and evolve.

Thank you for your comments...we are indeed entrepreneurial. Combine that with an industry that is in its infancy and is being invented on a daily basis, it's an exciting place to work. We do recognize that it can be unsettling for those that don't like change. But for those that thrive in a dynamic environment that responds to employees, customers and industry trends, Right Source is the perfect company for personal growth.

Pros

There is a lot to learn in the world of content-driven marketing. The leadership at Right Source believe in educating the team in order to deliver client results. We work hard, but also find time to enjoy one another's company. Laughing is encouraged. Our values aren't just words on our website. They are core principals that we all try our best to live by. If you're looking for an environment that will challenge you, grow your skills and reward your impact, stay on the lookout for openings at Right Source.

Cons

If you're looking for a large organization that has processes and procedures for everything, look elsewhere. Right Source has plenty of that in place, but the team is open to discovering new ways to do things, and are always in a mode of improvement.
