Pros
> It was going well for the first 2 weeks and then after that I knew I had to get out of there. I just didn’t know how. Management was nice in the beginning but then a lot of cracks I noticed started to show and that’s when I slowly started to withdraw. The team morale is so poor and this put me off the job if I’m being honest. > The only con I can think of is if you get a review on Tripadvisor you are gifted £50 per review. > Pay is decent £15.21 but that’s including the TRONC pay so your hourly rate is £12.21 > Lobby Host hours are okay. Mine were 10am to 5pm/6pm weekdays and then weekends 11am to 8pm (which I hated) as they always had me in both Saturday and Sunday when there is another lobby host :/ on the team. I made it clear I would rather not do double shifts it’s not healthy and I’m far too young for that lol. There’s more to life than draining your body and killing yourself for money. > A lot of ethnicities work here, mainly Eastern European but a good mix.
Cons
The LOBBY HOST position is basically you standing inbetween 2 lifts , pressing a button and shoving people in and out of it. I was told I needed to be more energetic but how more energetic can you be standing on your feet in one position for 8 - 10 hours a day which got extremely painful and boringgggg. Honestly, I would always set timers on my phone just dying to go home. Sometimes I would even ask to leave a hour or 2 earlier I really didn’t care about the pay. Which is why this is a new role the current team hate doing it which is why they have hired and will continue to hire someone specifically for that. The role is not sustainable so keep that in mind. But that’s not all. When I started they said you wouldn’t mind “covering” sometimes for breaks, sickness etc it wouldn’t be your main thing but it would be good if you could learn some. I was eager and didn’t mind but the team couldn’t even show me nothing as the director (M) seemed to lose her head and roll around if someone wasn’t standing at the lift. It was difficult, felt cold and the onboarding wasn’t great. The manager was on holiday when I started also, it just wasn’t smooth at all. The lobby host role is just embarrassing. You may see people you know and you are there just pressing a button looking at the numbers on the lift going up and down. Saying “Hi and Bye” a million times a day. The role would be great for someone that has no experience (anyone can literally do it) Outfit - they have you looking like a solicitor. Must wear a white shirt along with black trousers and a blazer and smart black shoes (which are highly uncomfortable) I had to ask once if I could wear trainers or black UGGs they declined the UGGs but only said specific ON cloud trainers (must be discreet) god knows why. The people that enter the place don’t dress fancy at all. (Unless it’s a dinner reservation at the top in the garden) a lot of the free tickets are filled up with massive groups of families, trucks of prams and loud obnoxious people. I didn’t plan on staying for long so I just thought why waste £150 on trainers I won’t need? > Cold in the winter & autumn - they still don’t provide you with no coat and no offer for a warm drink but the others do. > Extremely toxic. If you work a 9,10 or 11 hour shift you only get a 30 minute break and they will count by each minute. You will only get an hour if you do a 12 hour shift which is absolutely bizarre and diabolical. Literally stopped taking care of myself physically because of this job. > Staff are far too passive aggressive with one another, including the management. On group chats, the front of house manager (J) and the one below him (R) on multiple occasions embarrassed staff and calling them out of things which should be private. They just love the power of bossing people and embarrassing staff. Not true leaders at all. > Constantly being watched only time you are not monitored is when you go to the toilet. Literally lol. > They will literally give colleagues 2-3 double shifts back to back and then expect them to perform well? Then wonder why people call in sick the following day? > Rota is off. You only get one week in advance so you can’t even plan your life outside of work. > Slightly isolated you don’t really work a lot with the team if you are stuck in the lobby you just pass them a lot of the time but I didn’t mind as I prefer to be my own. > Majority of the team are okay. The team as a whole are fed up and I don’t blame them. The workload is a lot for the reception. But some of the girls are so two faced, so beware. It’s all girls on the team only one straight guy and one gay. > Directors are so up themselves, it was so funny to watch. Not my type of people at all. Look down on you and talk down to you, no thanks lol. I’ll go where I’m appreciated. > Meal allowance? This is a fat lie. I didn’t receive one meal here whilst working:/ Overall, I just didn’t feel comfortable there. It’s far too corporate and robotic for me. The team knew I hated it. I come from a fitness background so I’m used to closeness and community type of feeling. This wasn’t it at all.
