11yHey, hey , hey – what are you trying to achieve here - this is the time new hires from various campuses are coming on board - are you trying to poison their young minds and create negative vibes even before they join? Readers of this post, please see our response below:
1. Why Engineers and not Monkeys?
It takes us ~15 – 20 days of classroom training and dummy assignments before we can put a new hire on the job. After that we provide almost 4 -5 months of continuous hand holding. Even after one year, we are not able to submit an analysts work without QC - and the QC is not so much about data but the model and the logic that's gone into it. And remember that this is for some of the finest minds in the industry. “Training a monkey in 7 days and monkeys could do that” – how do we even respond to that argument? If the average stay was 3 months, could we have come up with this observation?
2. Negative vibes
If you are a current employee, you very well know that we have internal anonymous feedback system and if you were really a positive mind constructive feedback person you would have posted your feedback internally and you know that every feedback is discussed and acted upon. Either you are leaving us/left us/ or trying hard to leave us soon – but this is certainly a disservices to your fellow team mates who are enjoying their work, learning and are thinking of long term career and make Rescon Partners a winning organization. The team is young and small and therefore is it the case where one bad fish spoils whole pond?
Most of our team is made up of team members who have come through internal references – if the environment was so bad and if the work was something that monkeys could do – why would we be able to hire from NITs through internal referrals. We even encourage new hires to connect with current team members prior to joining. There are past team members who have come back to us saying that they would like to join back as they now feel that they left even before their learning was over.
3. Feedback from international clients
Recently our international client visited us for 15 days - and they came to India with an image of a factory like environment. However what they saw was totally opposite. They were pleasantly surprised to see the environment, the team and the best practices of team management.
Many of us came back with sweet memories from Rishikesh trip with client.
4. Office at MG Road
An organization can have multiple work locations. MG Road office address is for client meetings. We make it very clear in the pre-placement talk that team operates out of a basement – and we are not alone – many professionals, in Gurgaon and Delhi, have their offices in basement. Also it is not a dingy basement but fully lit, air-conditioned, windows, TT table etc.. Female team members have an option to use separate washroom – but due to proximity of common washroom and as we are more like a family – we end up using common washroom. Female team members are aware of the option of using separate washroom – you may not be.
5. CEO has a heart and passion of 20 years old / Retirement Policy
You should be happy that your CEO has a heart and passion of 20 years old and he likes to work hands on with the team members – in many other organizations an early business analyst will not even be able to spend time with CEO let alone working together.
The Firm is our CEO's passion and in todays world you cannot have a business that is not growing and adding competitive advantage to it. Sadly, there is nothing called retirement policy these days.
6. Company does not have passion
Ecommerce companies may be great companies to work for. However our profession is neither designed for exponential growth the way Ecommerce is seeing these days nor it is designed for "All in" kind of stakes. Our research and analysis work requires intelligence, discipline and maturity. We therefore even ask new hires to check with their relatives/friends, who are in corporate world and have done MBA from a good colleges, to check out on how would joining Rescon Partners will help them in their professional development – and whether they should join a E-commerce company or analytics company or a business research company or a Core engineering company.
7. Three Key Services - Strategy, Balanced Scorecard and Process Compliance and Adoption
We have delivered work under all three key services. However, not everybody gets to work across all three key services. We hire engineers for Business Research Analysis under Strategy domain.
8. Brutally honest question
As we have communicated many times in internal open forums that one should work with us only if one is happy to come to office every day. We also do not sign bonds to financially bind a person. We wonder what can be the reasons for a smart person like you to stick with us and carry out "freaking repetitive job" on a daily basis?
