Great people, great learning experience, but the work/life balance and poor upper management will make you think twice. - Process Engineer Renesas Employee Review

Pros

You'd want to work here if you come straight out of college. You learn a great deal and end up meeting great friends. Coming out of NEC, you will be ready to take on multiple challenges at any company. This includes dealing with different people, self management of tasks, as well as technical aspects of the semicondcutor industry.

Cons

The work - life balance is extremely off. You'll find yourself working 9-10 hours a day, answering calls at night, and sometimes on the weekends. Working hard is also not rewarding in terms of money. Yes, managers and co-workers will recognize you work, but not much more than that. Also, the semiconductor industry does not seem to be looking hot, especially in California. Getting a job here, if you stay a long time, you'll find it'll be more difficult to find another job in Ca.

Cons

In my experience, the work environment is negatively critical, and feedback often felt focused on mistakes rather than development. Upper management did not appear to encourage open and honest discussion, making it difficult to raise concerns or share ideas. Compensation seemed below market rates compared to similar roles in the industry. Over time, morale appeared to decline, and many employees became disengaged and less confident in their work. Several talented colleagues left during my time there, and turnover seemed consistently high.
