Pros

This felt like such a con to me but in reality, the way the company urges their employees to take time for themselves, encourages that work life balance is something not all companies do these days. I mean, at first I was the one that was constantly trying to hoard my PTO but they made it pretty clear that wasn't the right or best choice. Leadership is supportive, they encourage a lot of company in person events for their local staff, and they do a lot within their benefits. The structure has changed a bit since I joined but with those growing pains is a lot of improvements to the over all structure and organization of the company.

Cons

biggest con is because of the size of the company, if your contract ends, they don't have as many opportunities to hold onto employees and move them to another contract these days. That has more to do with the current climate than RD itself but taking that into account, it does add a challenge for them.

Pros

-With almost 24 years of aerospace work experience and having worked for my fourth NASA contractor now (sixth company overall) I can say this is the best company I've worked for. -Starting from the CEO to management and down to the employees, everyone is treated with respect and is made to feel like they are what's most important, not the bottom line on the ledger. That translates into good communication, employee engagement, and straight up kindness. -HR is centralized and easy to get answers from either through an online hub or through the HR rep. -401k matching is on par with bigger companies in the government contracting world. -Flexible remote work scheduling. -If you do go in to the Laurel HQ office to work, it's a clean and comfortable environment (with free drinks and snacks provided!). -When NASA killed off programs, RDI employees weren't discarded as financial liabilities (as is sadly the case with other contractors in this industry). The CEO keeps you on and helps find work for you!

Cons

This is splitting hairs, but because the company isn't as big as other contractors (SAIC, KBR, ASRC, etc.) they can't bear the financial burden of some other ancillary benefits (i.e., free software subscriptions for employee home use, increased PTO, etc.). Again, small but not anything that hurts the employee. You're just "gilding the lily" at that point.

Pros

Passionate leadership that provide numerous opportunities for employee growth and well-being.

Cons

During a tough contract market, leadership can often promise more than they can deliver.
