A great place to work! - Engineer Reiss Engineering Employee Review

Pros

There are a wide variety of projects and clients and not as pigeon-holed as you would be at other firms. Very defined roles and responsibilities so there is not a blame game and people genuinely try to help whenever possible. The environment is great to be at with good people to be around. It's a growing firm and there are a lot of smart people that work here and can (and are willing to) teach you. The senior management knows what they are doing and how to win work and spread it around.

Cons

Advancement seems like it is tough to obtain, but still feeling that out. Micromanaging isn't as bad as working in a government job, but still occurs for some people. Salaries are lower than at major international firms but you don't have the red tape and feeling of being "just a number", plus the benefits are much better.

Pros

Great people that are knowledgeable and experts in water and wastewater treatment and master planning, they stay on the cutting edge of design for a smaller firm, you're not just a number to them, fun and engaging work, freedom to win work with full company support, good business savvy, quick to respond to recommended changes and input from all staff levels. The owner is a phenomenal person (he is my role model) and actively engaged with clients and staff which is a rare find. Plan to stay in touch with the good people at Reiss for many years to come. They now have 10 owners and look to be expanding their owner base which is a great step towards a long term healthy firm that will stay privately owned and benefit the staff and have a direct impact on loyalty to the firm. Oh and excellent pay and bonuses, they definitely show respect to employees, and it is everyone at all levels so the profits are shared very well and the hard work is rewarded.

Cons

Consulting engineering requires some long hours to meet deadlines and keep clients happy but Reiss definitely tried to maintain and cultivate a good work life balance as much as as possible. They had a well organized structure to try to balance the demands of consulting.
