Pros

The campus is beautiful and the work life balance is decent depending on the department. Students make the environment as wonderful as it is.

Cons

The higher leadership is so disorganized and out of touch with their teams. Takes little to no responsibility for the poor office atmospheres. The school expects the best professionals but is too cheap to hire quality personnel and burns the workers that are there for the good of the students alone. Benefits are few and far between and no 401k matching. Raises do not exist but don’t worry, they’re going to build a new outdoor fountain for the dining hall.

Pros

Supportive HR Department: HR leadership is compassionate, approachable, and genuinely cares about staff well-being. Positive Campus Community: The broader university community—faculty, staff, and students—is friendly and collaborative. Beautiful Campus & Mission: The university’s setting and commitment to education and service are admirable. Opportunities to Get Involved: There are fun campus traditions and community events that make you feel connected.

Cons

Toxic Department Culture: My department became an unhealthy and stressful work environment under upper leadership. Retaliation & Bullying: Reports of being publicly humiliated, denied PTO, and blamed for others’ mistakes; when issues were reported, retaliation followed instead of resolution. Lack of Direction & Follow-Through: Upper leadership often started projects with enthusiasm but never saw them through. Micromanagement & Double Standards: Rules and expectations were inconsistent and seemed to shift frequently, leading to burnout and a lack of trust. Never matched Retirement Plan Limited professional growth opportunities.
